Ideally, it would be nice if the list of website exceptions to Enhanced Tracking Protection was synced to the Mozilla account, but an alternative would be the ability to export and import your list once it's established. This would be handy for using Librewolf across multiple devices or if you need to do a fresh install.

I see random connections to push.services.mozilla.com, I think it would be wise to prohibit these ...

The link squares are smaller, and the grid of all the shortcuts has been moved down so that there's a big gap at the top and the page scrolls.

Background: I use profiles frequently to separate work, home and other things. In some profiles I use other DRM and fingerprint settings etc Also I switched from installing from flathub to manual (https://librewolf.net/installation/debian/)

Issue: Since a couple of weeks, some profiles dont start. Choosing them will amount to nothing. Librewolf doesnt start, not in the background nor in the foreground. Choosing another profile and after that, the intended one sometimes works around the issue.

Research:

The installs.ini shows the default profile TWO times:

Both installs are also mentioned in profiles.ini.

Question:

• Is having 2 install entries the cause? Because the profilemanager doesnt know what to do?
• Should I remove one of them but which? Opening the /.librewolf/Thuis profile doesnt give information which one is in use. Or I dont know where to look. Assuming this will help of course.

Hi! Moving from Firefox to Librewolf. Been using "activity-aware firefox" for a long time and find it very helpful to have different settings for work and hobbies using different activities on Plasma. Is there any alternatives for Librewolf?

So I have seen comments that bitwardens extension works and want to check if no script does. Since libre wolf is just configuration I figure most stuff should work but not real sure. I looked to see if there was something like a pinned questions thread which I would normally put a minor question like this. Considering recent news maybe instead a moving from firefox pinned thread for awhile first.

Obligatory "I'm a recent Firefox refugee" header.

The migration went mostly fine, with one notable exception. I use LastPass as a password manager, so naturally I installed the extension. However, it does not show up in the address bar or in the overflow menu.

The autofill helper does show up on login forms, but clicking on the icon fails to open the LastPass login page. No errors except some cryptic stuff from a minified JS script.

I was surprised not to find anything about this online. Are there other LastPass users in here? What else can I do to help debugging?

Such a minor quibble that I'm almost embarrassed to mention it, but it would be nice to have these if possible.

I've migrated the search.json.mozl4 (I think?) file I had in my FF profile folder, which has quite a lot of custom search engines I've accumulated over the years, so that may have something to do with it, but I think the favicons might have been missing out of the box? Anyway, like I said, a minor quibble.

I believe LibreWolf's defaults are too strict and slow down adoption. Most options are either : all or nothing. No in-between.

Sadly, I believe the default settings are too strict and will slow down adoption by the mass, which would in term bring a better anonymity set.

It's not a great alternative to Firefox because LibreWolf is just not usable for the daily user: no DRM, no cookies, no history, websites that break... The browser should let the user choose:

• Maximum compatibility (more tracking)
• Mid-option (like a modded firefox but without the annoyances like cookies not being stored, having a fixed size, or forced light-mode/timezone)
• Best privacy (pretty much the current mode)

I find myself forced to edit the default settings which is a huge privacy/fingerprinting risk. If we create 'settings groups', yes, the privacy will be hurt, but at least we will be more in each group.

What do you think about this?

Hi, recent firefox refugee here, and I'm trying to figure out how to get webgl fully working. I already disabled webgl.disabled in about:config, and that seems to have done the trick for most webgl content.

However, the site noclip.website doesn't work. It's basically a 3D model viewer for game maps, and all I get is a black screen. This site works fine in Firefox on this same machine.

I'm using LibreWorld 135.0.1-1 Flatpak on Linux

Hi all

Trying to make a switch over to librewolf, but currently the "most mission critical issue" is that I can't seemingly force the PiP -videoplayer to stay on top of all other windows.

My kwin window rule is essentially identical, apart from window class, to the old one I used with Firefox - and that one worked just fine. Not sure if kwin, librewolf or user id10t issue.

But if anyone has thoughts or pointers about this, please share!

Since I've been mostly using #LibreWolf @librewolf and Tor Browser @torproject anyway, and almost never plain #Firefox, it wasn't a big deal to say goodbye and to delete Firefox from all devices today.

The new "Terms of Use" and the modified privacy notice have crossed a red line, I do no longer give Mozilla the benefit of doubt.

I've been a user of Librewolf for a about a year now, and it's always served me pretty well as a nice easy way to get a hardened Arkenfox Firefox.

However, recently I was curious why Librewolf wasn't recommended on PrivacyGuides, and took a look through their reasoning on their forum. That thread spans multiple years, and for the most part I thought their reasons for not including it were a bit unfair, especially after Librewolf started offering automatic updates.

But towards the end of that thread in October, a Privacy guide team member posted a link to the Arkenfox github issue tracker, where a Librewolf team member reveals how the project appeared to have lost steam after a critical member left, and they are struggling to keep it up to date with the latest Arkenfox updates, despite putting out new releases.

I'm not sure if those problems have been resolved since that time. One of the maintainers did mention they're still short staffed in this topic on taking over maintaining Mull.

After considering the arguments for and against in the PrivacyGuides thread, I think their conclusion for not recommending it was ultimately correct. Using Librewolf adds an additional layer of trust, not only to not be malicious (which I don't suspect they are) but to also be able to adequately fulfill what they set out to do reliably.

Another big part of them not recommending it was the existence of the Mullvad Browser, which I didn't realize was in fact a very well hardened version of Firefox (essentially the Tor browser without the Tor part), and is far more effective for private browsing compared to Librewolf or an Arkenfox'd firefox.

Ultimately you'll have to come to your own conclusion, but personally I'll be switching back to Firefox as my convenient daily browser full of addons, alongside the mullvad browser for (more) private browsing.

browser.tabs.insertAfterCurrent is a treasure inside about:config of Firefox (and LibreWolf for that matter). Instead of opening new tabs at the end, it opens them right next to the current tab so you can go back to the last tab instantly without scrolling through a long tab list! I believe this should be the default behaviour in every browser.

Unfortunately, too few users are aware it even exists.

I suggest you add this as a checkbox in the graphical about:preferences menu.

Before I bother installing LibreWolf, I would like to know whether the form history can be activated manually. I think it is very helpful and saves time.

It is stored only locally anyway, so it doesn't violate privacy like telemetry and add-on signing to. If my data was stolen, I would have much greater things to worry about anyway.
