Welcome! LikeThisMayLike, or Like This? You May Like is a community inspired by the classic recommendation form of, "If you liked this, you may like...", which in turn inspired the Reddit community, If You Like Blank, and in turn inspired me to post this question over in !asklemmy@lemmy.ml.

Seeing the response from that thread, I thought a similar community here might be appreciated, especially without some of the awkward post formatting requirements and, imo, name of the subreddit.

Speaking of, posts here don't need to be formatted/abbreviated as, "[IIL] subject, WEWIL?" Translation there being: if I like subject, what else would I like?

They also don't need to be formatted as, "If I like blueberries, what else might I like?" You can write your questions however they come to you so long as they fit the spirit of the community.

Best of luck in your questions!

If you have any questions/concerns, let me know below!

Edit:
Making a slight adjustment to invite more activity here. Although you could before, I want to make it clear that you may make suggestion/recommendation posts here as long as they indicate the connection/relationship of the things, e.g. "If you like peanut butter sandwiches, you might love peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, like holy shit!" or drawing from my recent thread, "If you enjoy Massive Attack, you might also like Sneaker Pimps!"

And what other groups give ya similar vibes to either band?

As you can find in the link, Robot Carnival is an older animated anthology movie from 1987 with a similar scifi focus. It's by no means the same beyond that though, but still a good watch if you're a fan of scifi animation.

Also it's pretty easy to find somewhere to watch it for free across different streaming services, e.g. Retrocrush, Tubi, Freevee, Roku Channel, etc.

Brogue's a more up to date spin on the classic game Rogue, with some slight modern touches to make it more approachable to newcomers while keeping to the spirit of the original.

For reference Brick Builder is a channel built around timelapse videos of putting together Lego sets. Sometimes I like to kick back and watch these and other timelapse videos of people drawing, building, etc. so I'm wondering what some other similar channels might be.

Doesn't have to be Lego-building or model-building btw, drawing, sculpting, 3D modeling, anything creative/crafty sped up a little is the idea here!

I recently started watching videos on YouTube of a guy (The Trek Planner) who searches Google maps for what looks like ancient structures, then hikes out to them and sometimes flies his drone around them. Lots of very cool footage, and I’d love to see more videos with similar content.

What I like about his videos:

Unique content showing archaeological remains that have little or no other media presence, either through other YouTube channels or documentaries

Genuine excitement for going out and filming things to show people, doesn’t come off as a content mill

Emphasis around being respectful and not touching or harming any ancient remains

What I’d like more of in similar videos:

More advanced archaeological, historical, anthropological, geological, etc knowledge. Not necessarily someone with a degree but at least a knowledgeable amateur

Maybe somewhere outside the southwest? But anywhere is good

Similar but not quite what I’m looking for YouTube channels that I also enjoy:

Stefan Milo

Ancient Americas

Miniminuteman

Recently watched this and was pleasantly surprised that it didn't overstay its welcome, but I also found the pace sort of transfixing. The pace was neither overwhelming nor felt overly rushed, it simply felt...Right.

So I guess another way to put it might be, what other movies are well-paced and not too long?

I really like the upbeat sound of the song, and its theme of love. What other good love songs are like it in those terms?

Thanks for reading!

Bands like Borknagar? (leminal.space)

When it comes to metal, I usually listen to power metal and traditional heavy metal. Ages ago, Amazon had a promotion where you could buy certain albums for $0.01, so I went through and took a chance on some albums and bands I had never heard of. Of all the albums I got, Borknagar's Winter Thrice was far and away my favorite, and I dove into Borknagar's entire discography.

I love the harsh vocals with the melodic choruses, especially combined with the subject matter of nature. I was wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions for similar bands to check out. The only similar thing I can think of is Gojira's From Mars to Sirus, which is also a great album.

Doesn't have to be a YouTube series or documentary/reality-style show btw, more produced stuff like Ghostbusters would be fun too. Also open to books or the like.
