This is how I learned about mods and Creeper! Also how to use summoning to fill soul gems.

Good memories

I'll start :)

I still clearly remember one particular incident. It was my first playthrough, where I didn't know what to do at all, and I've been pretty battered down. I arrived in Pelagiad while the sun was settling behind the horizon, really exhausted and close to getting killed. But just the feeling of finally going around the corner and seeing the tavern, knowing I'll be safe there, was an amazing feeling of relier. I'll hold it with me forever, and I don't think any other game managed to implement it in such a way.

What are your memories?

I got OpenMW running on my old Thinkpad thats running Fedora Linux with over 200+ mods. I didn't think it would but its running just fine; I couldn't believe it. Has not crashed once in 60hrs but I thinks that due to OpenMW.

here's the modlist if anyone is curious: https://modding-openmw.com/lists/expanded-vanilla/

I've been playing through the Tamriel Rebuilt mod for the first time. It blows my mind how much work and love is being put into it. and they just released a huge update last month. Dare I say, the quest/story writing is much better than original Morrowind. I spent maybe 30+ hours on the mod and I'm guessing I have at least 100+ hours more to go.

I highly recommend, you reading, to install OpenMW and at least get Tamriel Rebuilt mod going. You won't regret it.

Morrowind has a special place in my heart. But it seems rather dead here.

Which quest is your favorite?

WTF Caius! You sent me to kill this weirdo and he gave me the cooties and now you're freaking out? Then he said looked up on corprus cures with his connections so...he knew I could get corprus! Why is he freaking out LOL.

Funny little short story book I found while playing. What other books are interesting or worth a read? Let's do some book sharing haha.

Morrowind with the MGE XE mod now works in Wine and Proton! This means you can have shaders, grass, distant land, high resolutions and MWSE working on Linux!

  1. Install Morrowind
  2. Get the Wine/Proton prefix directory. If you installed Morrowind using the Steam client, the Proton prefix will be in your /home/USERNAME/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/22320/pfx/ If you installed Morrowind using something like PlayOnLinux your Wine prefix will be in your /home/USERNAME/PlayOnLinux's virtual drives/Morrowind/
  3. Launch the terminal and enter the following commands

WINEPREFIX="/path/to/wine/prefix" winecfg

  1. Go to the Libraries tab

  2. Add the dinput.dll and d3d8.dll and set the added DLLs to "native, builtin"

  3. Click Apply and then click OK

  4. Install Winetricks

  5. Launch the terminal and enter the following commands

WINEPREFIX="/path/to/wine/prefix" winetricks d3dcompiler_43

WINEPREFIX="/path/to/wine/prefix" winetricks d3dcompiler_47

WINEPREFIX="/path/to/wine/prefix" winetricks d3dx9_43

  1. Install MGE XE mod

You also may need to open the Morrowind.ini file and change "Background Keyboard" to 1. You also may need to install the MWSE nightly v2.1.0 update to make MWSE fully work for you.

I would like to thank all the contributers and debuggers in the WineHQ to make this [possible.

https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47940

EDIT: I find this will not work in older versions of Wine and I have tested it in 2020 and it works on Wine 5.0.1. For Proton, it will only seem to work on 5.13
