"I think this season gave us great opportunities to explore the range of the characters as they are on the page, and bring that same range we have inside us to the roles," Ian Cardoni tells GamesRadar+ about how getting a second season under his belt has transformed his take on Rick.

"I think fans will really enjoy the different iterations of Rick. I was telling Harry I have enjoyed watching his Mortys throughout the season too… I think there's been an element of taking some more ownership over these roles and really trying to serve the writing that we've got."

Belden echoed those thoughts, saying, "There's a lot of gifts we've been given by the scripts. I honestly think we've worked these vocal muscles in getting these voices down over the course of season seven. I think now that we've honed that, we can turn our attention to other things – serving the script, embodying the characters a little bit more, and just bringing these incredible stories to life in the way that fans have come to expect of the show."

Creators Scott Marder and Dan Harmon return to the family roots of the sci-fi sitcom, with Jerry turning into the Easter Bunny and lots of intergalactic body horror.

Rick and Morty season eight arrives May 25, and while io9 got an advance peek at four early episodes, one fan-favorite character didn’t appear in them: Space Beth, the badass clone of Rick’s daughter, Beth. However, Adult Swim’s trailer revealed Space Beth will definitely be back—and in io9’s recent interview with Rick and Morty cast and crew, we learned just how important she will be.

And to backtrack quickly before it gets too confusing—Space Beth might actually be Rick’s real daughter, and “our” Beth might in fact be the duplicate. It’s a question that’s hung over the characters since Space Beth first appeared back in the season four finale. And it plays into one of Rick and Morty‘s recurring fascinations.

“For me, it’s always been like, ‘Well, who are you?’ It’s a nature versus nurture thing,” Rick and Morty executive producer Dan Harmon told io9 when we asked about the show’s affection for clones. “Notably, we don’t know if it’s Space Beth or domestic Beth that is the clone. I like the Schrödinger’s cat [idea]—things that explore uncertainty as an empirical concept, which is what the Schrödinger’s cat model is. It’s this idea that a thing can be neither true or untrue, or it’s one of two things, and you’ll never know which it is.”

This nonlinear style of storytelling is ultimately the fatal flaw for Rick and Morty: The Anime. With the anime having to tell its story out of order, conversations between characters could never really allude to anything happening because it was unclear as to when a particular scene was taking place. It wasn’t clear as to what the actual timeline of the series looks like, and that was an issue that was carried all the way to the end.

Though the Dan Harmon show is animated, Rick and Morty had a live-action interpretation in 2021, and it was about as weird as anyone could expect.

To promote its 5th season, Adult Swim released several promos featuring a live-action Rick and Morty, with the characters played by Christopher Lloyd and Jaeden Martell, respectively.

Fans of iconic adult animated sitcom Rick and Morty, rejoice! A unique immersive experience based on the show will officially debut at the Morgan Arts Complex at 3622 S. Morgan Street in Chicago on December 6.

Tickets to Rick and Morty: Multiverse Mania Experience, set to run through January 5, 2025, are already on sale right here.

The 25,000-square-foot space will basically be turned into a life-sized version of Rick's lab. Once inside, guests will have about an hour to play games, win prizes, grab treats and basically pretend to be inside the world of the fictional scientists. Also on site will be a mini-golf course featuring Mr. Meeseeks, a Seal Team Rick Laser Tag section and, of course, Rick's iconic toilet.

"In the Multiverse Mania Experience, Morty’s accident with a portal gun has resulted in a chaotic crisscross of portals, spanning beloved locations across the universe that are now waiting for you to explore," reads an official press release. "You may train in a laser blaster arena, brush up your short game with Mr. Meeseeks, or even tempt fate with a photo on Rick’s forbidden off-planet toilet. Jump into your favorite show moment, play games, win prizes, grab a treat and maybe fill out Morty’s Adventure Card while you’re at it."
