Can we get blurred thumbnails for NSFW link posts too?

Thought that wasn’t possible, but it actually is. Here‘s two approaches:

iOS Profile

Add the web clip via profile by running this shortcut. You don’t need to upload the image anywhere, but it means you have the profile laying around. If you‘re okay with uploading the image somewhere I‘d recommend the next approach.

Change the apple-touch-icon urls

I made this little shortcut that does it for you, you just need a url to the image and run the shortcut on the website you wanna add.

You can manually change the apple-touch-icon urls before adding the web clip to your home screen. Either by connecting your device to a Mac and doing the changes via web inspector there, or directly on device by using a safari extension such as this one that lets you run JavaScript.

Install the app, go to the website, enable the extension, paste this in the console and tap "execute":

You can change the url to any image url you want to use.

I am no longer able to log in or view any content with wefwef. I deleted the app and tried to navigate to the website with my phone.

I am technically able to access the website, but any attempts to login in say "connection error". Any attempts to view posts say "problem fetching posts". I have tried multiple instances and none of them work.

Is anyone else having this issue? I am an android user. Thanks.

Seems they’re opening in a new full screen view rather than blur/unblur on tap. Actually much preferred the in-feed option!

Seems like the app is displaying pics without retaining their aspect ratio? Anyone else noticing this or am I crazy?

I noticed on Android (probably same applies to iphone) images on home feed are scaled nicely. On ipad images can show up very large

I keep trying to swipe right to return to my feed after viewing a post (a setting I implemented on Apollo). Sometimes it works but the majority of the time I wind up upvoting a post. My thumb is too short to reach all the way to the top of my phone screen to click the back button with one hand lol. (Phone developers: bigger isn’t always better for women with small hands!). Any ideas?

I like to sort post comments by “Top (day)”. I can do that within each post, but every time visit a new post the sorting reverts back to “hot”. Is there a way to have wefwef remember my selection of “Top (day)” for every post I view?

If I interact with a Lemmy post via Wefwef, will it go to wefwef.app domain first and then to Lemmy or will it pass the request directly from my phone to the Lemmy Instance (s)?

I noticed an odd behavior today and it has me wondering how things work. So far I’ve exclusively used wefwef for 100% of my Lemmy experience. I can click on my profile and it shows all my comments. As expected.

Last night, I saw that Memmy had been released, and I wanted to check it out, so downloaded it and was poking around, and while I was using it I saw I had a notification that someone had replied to an earlier comment of mine I had made (from wefwef) so I ended up hitting reply and posting a comment from Memmy.

Now that I’m back on wefwef, when I click on my profile, I don’t see the reply I made using Memmy. I can click on my inbox, see the reply that someone else made to me, click on that to pull up all the comments, and I see the reply I made in response in the comment section. I can even click on the profile of the person that made it (me) and it pulls up my profile with all the other comments I’ve made, but not the one that I made from Memmy.

This is…weird. And not expected. It’s not a super big deal, and I’m mainly just posting out of curiosity for wanting to know how things work. I’m sure it has something to do with the Fediverse or instances or whatnot and might even be something that is out of control, but I thought it was weird that from within wefwef, I can see the comment I made and it’s even associated with me, but it doesn’t show up in the comments section of my profile. Is this a bug, or expected behavior?

Whenever I try to install the app on Chrome on my Android phone I get a generic "impossible to install / an error has occurred", with no more info. Any idea what's the problem? I have other web apps installed just fine.

Each time I open a post it reverts back to sorting comments by “Hot”.

Is there a way to change it permanently to sort comments by “Top”?

The update badge indicates a new version is ready to be installed (these devs are really really fast BTW with all the incredible updates), but there is no update. Running version 0.15.

While browsing posts, it may be nice to have either a different background color or some sort of identifier on your own comments to easily pick them out of the crowd as you scroll.

Have two iPads with wefwef on them. 0.14.0 works great on one, but 0.15.0 is throwing lots of errors on the other, upon pretty much any action other than simple browsing.

Commenting, searching, and profile-loading all throw the red error bar at the bottom.

Side note sorry this shows up as a YouTube short (idk how to force it as a regular video on mobile and ont know any other good free video hosts).

The top bar that should show time and battery power is not visible if in light mode. Any way to fix that?

I'm new to the web app, so please excuse a super basic question.

Up until today I've been accessing the fediverse through my Firefox browser on mobile, and I've been curating my feed by blocking certain porn and meme communities that keep popping up. On the browser, blocking can be achieved through visiting a community's sidebar and blocking them from there.

However, with wefwef.app, I haven't been able to locate a block button on the community page or the sidebar. Am I just really incompetent?

Would it be possible to get a “tap to return to top” ? Currently I back out of the view and then go back i to it, but that’s cumbersome. Ideally we’d also get an Apollo feature of “tap to return to last position” too, but baby steps :)

The cors issue that was forcing wefwef to proxy traffic is finally been reviewed and merged. Most likely the next version of Lemmy 0.18.1 will support CORS.

This means wefwef won't needd to proxy requests and might be able to switch to static hosting 😊

You can now easily switch between communities and even search for new ones - all without leaving the feed! Just tap the header of any post feed.

Revamped gallery

The gallery component was given some TLC and is now enabled on the feed! (No needing to tap into a post to zoom an image!) You can even upvote, reply, comment and share from the gallery itself!

If you run Android, the gallery now respects your back button :)

This is just the start of what I personally want the gallery to do, so keep an eye out for more improvements around here!
