UK @ UF

I'll watch this one so y'all don't have to. Florida opens the scoring with a FG.

Would love to be wrong about Billy, but he probably needs to surprise in one of the gauntlet games and take care of business against a very weak FSU to save his job.

Still, they definitely had some moments and actually put a team away, eventually.

I am trying to check on this game during the ad breaks in the Texas game but they keep lining up

[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Y'know, uhh, if you wanted to, there's room over here for fans that suddenly find they dislike UGA.

Just sayin'.

Watching now. Have y'all always done Mr. Brightside? Feels like everyone's just copying Michigan now, although it's not like they own the song or anything

[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago

No clue. The Tom Petty song in the second half is our newest "thing," as far as I know.

[–] g0d0fm15ch13f@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

I've noticed this throughout the season... The networks are conspiring to make this happen more and more

[–] g0d0fm15ch13f@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago

Taking one for the team, respect

[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago

Carbon copy of Florida's previous TD drive. Nice run after a long completion down the seam sets them up. Somebody is NIL'ing the living bejeezus out of Lagway next year. I hope it's UF.

Well, THERE's the special teams breakdown that comes from not prioritizing it and tempting the football gods by calling it the "GameChanger Coordinator."

27-13 Gators after a weaving, slightly crazy KO return. And after some mild silliness, that's how we go to halftime.

[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago

Florida gets some home cooking on the initial call on third-and-goal. Another good drive for DJ though. 34-20.

@ UK #0

That number is way too small for such a big boy lol

3rd quarter ends with Kentucky at about midfield versus a Florida D that is either tiring or is being coached to give up some yards to milk the clock. Neither idea is particularly impressive, but Lagway looks like the future and we've yet to see Billy do anything truly head-scratching, so we got that going for us...

[–] g0d0fm15ch13f@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago

Yeah I'd rather we not talk about the UT UF game ever

[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Gators punch it in for a TD after a long int return. This Wildcat team may, uhhh, not actually be very good.

[–] ToasterOverlord@fanaticus.social 2 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Well at least they're pretty good on kickoff returns, it seems. But otherwise, yes, you are probably right

[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

And Gators go up 6-0, after some uninspiring 3rd-down playcalling, but nothing super stupid has happened yet.

[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

Welllll, shit. Kentucky with the TD on a flea flicker, the ad-absurdum of play-action.

They miss the XP though. 6-6.

[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

TD Gators. Nice effort on the running play for the score, after a great snag on a rope for 50 yards.

[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

Gators still up 3-0 at end of 1st quarter and back in the red zone. Lagway looks better against UK's defense and with a proper week of preparation, but still playing a bit like a freshman. Florida D is holding up so far, but they just have that feel like Stoops is going to try to wear them out, and I'm not sure if the UF offense will be efficient enough to force UK into being one-dimensional.

[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

Weird sequence there. Gators intercept Vandagriff, then almost immediately Lagway gives it back on a very Freshman-y throw. Kentucky squanders the 63 yard return though, turning it over on downs because they were utterly uncreative. Florida maybe benefited from an early whistle (depends on whether you assume the DL lets up upon hearing it).

[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

Pick-6 to the Gators. I don't really know how Vandagriff was ever a 5-star. That is just not an SEC starter's arm. Did he get injured in spring ball or something?

[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

41-20, Gators drive it down after the turnover on downs. Even a "Barely Enough Billy" team should have this one in hand with 3:30 left.

[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

And a nice opening drive from Kentucky, with a fourth down conversion and a few passes mixed in to keep Florida honest. One score game now, Billy.
