Every meme on this community feels like it's from someone who hasn't used linux since the early 2000s. If you're having to mess with permissions for your desktop's mount button to work try using a less terrible linux distribution that's actually made right.

If you aren't enthused you shouldn't use the enthusiast option.
No, what they're saying is that you plug in the USB cable, open the file manager and click on the drive in the sidebar. That's all the skill that should be involved.
Of course, there's going to be situations where this doesn't work for whatever reason, but I can't say I've ever seen it.
