I also don't really have any real life heroes. Though since it's been on my mind lately: anyone willing to fight for social justice or animal welfare. Protest/civil disobedience/steal neglected animals/etc. They're the real ones. I hate complacency and people's tendency to just roll over and accept shit. I'm in that group more than i would care to admit.
Anyway, got invited to a friendsgiving this year. All vegan. Very excited. I'll be bringing a Jamaican red bean stew which i think has always been a hit
All vegan gatherings are the dream. You lucky duck!
Yeah! A lot of the time we are hosting our non vegan friends and we make them all eat vegan food. But tomorrow some of our vegan friends are hosting and they are much more connected with other local vegans. Should be good to reconnect with some people from last year and then meet some new ones.
Before covid we did have success with hosting vegan meetup groups but haven't gotten back into the yet
Yeah I have a strict "You can't bring death to my house" rule but often must compromise my ethical standards to be included in family gathering or some friends. It is vile, and I hate it, but also for all their flaws I love my parents and don't want to get cut off from their lives.
I don't have any vegan friends atm (not in meatspace anyway) as the ones I made didn't stay :< but when you can host an all vegan bash it's so much more relaxed. No looking away, cautious inspection, just loved ones and good food and good vibes.
I hope you have a great time and reconnect with some awesome people!
