Boomer Shooter

"Boomer Shooters" are a sub-genre of first-person shooter (FPS) games, known for harking back to the fast-paced, adrenaline-fueled action of 1990s classics like DOOM, Quake, and Duke Nukem. They emphasize run-and-gun gameplay, maze-like level design, and an arsenal of diverse weapons. With little regard for realism, these games prioritize explosive action, non-linear exploration, and often feature fantastical, over-the-top enemies and environments.

This is a game type that I can find everywhere but in the iOS ecosystem. Got any recommendations?

Fps as a genre is unplayable on touchscreens and Apple is notoriously anti-gaming

That’s why it’s a good thing that my 12.1 inch iPad Pro is compatible with XBox and PS4/5 controllers (wired and wireless). I don’t have to try to use the touch interface. Or I could use a keyboard and mouse with it. Also, I’m guessing you completely missed the Apple WWDC where they demonstrated an API kit that makes it possible to recode Direct X in to Metal. So, I’d call that a pretty solid shove for devs to make games. At least Apple is not anti-gaming going forward, right?

I never bothered trying iOS games on the Mac, but I should check if that is possible to do. I think Mac runs iOS apps? That might allow for mouse and keyboard use.

You can use a mouse and keyboard with iOS devices (iPad, Apple TV, iPhone…). I do it every day.
