Seeing patterns and trying to explain them is fundamentally human. Taking advantage of being able to predict the world around us by recognizing patterns is basically the only human super power.
The danger appears when people use that power on other people. Religion is one of the many tools used to manipulate human behavior. Historically it has been used to both selfish and selfless ends.
Its existence is essentially a byproduct of human curiosity, a bug if you will, but its propagation is a direct result of the moral deficiency in certain, super church owning types of people.
Religion doesn't belong anywhere I think. Believing in that crap is a mental deficiency to me.
I'm fine with it as long as they keep their mental deficiency within the privacy of their own home.
