Can my bird of paradise grow back from just the roots? (hexbear.net)

My potted indoor bird of paradise had its only remaining stem snapped off in the wind the other day, now it is totally bare above ground except for a few old stems… is there any chance it will recover or should I just throw it out? kitty-cri
