Why does downvoting something make it show up as if I boosted it? (kbin.social)

It seems very silly that me downvoting something makes it show up on my profile page under "boosts", makes it look like I liked the post and boosted it when in reality I downvoted it.

Feels weird that what I vote on is public at all.

Weird thing is that it seems to only be downvotes that act as boosts, not upvotes.
