It sounds one of those scab mods
Most of the mods, from my experience, were garbage.
Minecraft had mods that defended pedophiles and had a pedophile in their ranks.
Canada had racist, far right mods.
Many of the popular subreddits all shared the same mods, who would ban you from every subreddit they modded if they didn't agree with you.
