Carney’s Checkmate: How Canada's Quiet Bond Play Forced Trump to Drop Tariffs
(deanblundell.substack.com)
A discussion of geopolitical trends from history and today.
geopolitics (jē″ō-pŏl′ĭ-tĭks) noun
The study of the relationship among politics and geography, demography, and economics, especially with respect to the foreign policy of a nation.
Weird, the ‘paused’ reciprocal tariffs weren’t even on Canada or Mexico, since they already have the 25% IEEPA tariffs which are still in effect. You can eliminate them with a USMCA cert, but they are still there. Not to mention the 232 steel/aluminum and vehicle/auto parts tariffs.
Not sure why this author thinks that ‘all’ tariffs are paused. Things are still really hard for companies importing things from CA/MX!
