I wonder if we're in some way better served as such a small niche in multiplayer gaming right now.
Like they have to be nice, they can just go and pull an apex on us, or whatever.
And there's still a lot of gaps in HI right now. There's no betrayal booting or in-game moderation of any kind. No multi-team capability. Several key favourites of the sandbox are absent (which isn't to say that the sandbox in Infinite isnt already robust). The menus are atrocious, full body awareness at typical PC FoV is broken, no split screen co-op on consoles etc etc.
Given what we had (and took for granted) in the past, it's kind of a wonder infinite is still kicking, though as a free to play offering in 2025, I can see why it's able to barely hold on.
Also the maps and modes are more or less completely community driven, the only praise 343 should get is putting them into match made playlists.
