Possibly ignorant question from a non-American here, but why is this news exactly? Feel like there's some cultural context or something missing.

When asked what location fans wanted as a fighting stage, one very popular answer was Waffle House. Context: if you crash at WH after a long night out, you're guaranteed to witness some drunken fighting.

Man, I'd love a Waffle House stage.

It's a place that stays up late after the bars close and there's a point during the night where much of the clientele is intoxicated and hungry. Fights are frequent enough to be a meme and some people think it would make a funny video game background.
