I mean, it was back breaking physical labor...
Almost everything is done by hand. For example to harvest you chop the plant down with a hatchet, then impale it on a wooden stake about five feet long with a removable metal spear tip.
I started doing that job at like 10?
For us it was cool because the whole extended family grew it. So when it was time to do something, we all worked each other's fields like a swarm of locusts. So it was like a big family reunion and bonding thing.
But the work itself sucked.
But you're, like, 6"6, all muscle as a result, right?
"Why, yes, I did work on a tobacco farm when I was a child... why do you ask? We ate tobacco caterpillars for lunch, and chewed raw tobacco leaves as snacks."
Nah. I'm 6'4...
