I'm not about to leave it a negative review but I gotta say... that was the worst experience I've had with Helldivers since I've been playing.
The Super Earth maps were ugly as fuck on their own and that's not to speak about the clunky map mess, how buggy it was and lighting being completely wrong. But none of that is a serious problem. What bugged the hell out of me is that this entire situation did nothing other than embolden the most toxic Divers to be as toxic as humanly possible.
I am a BugDiver. I go squish bugs. I do my part. The bots I'll go against but they're okay. The bugs I really enjoy fighting against. The squids I could not possibly care less about. I don't find the gameplay particularly enjoyable for them as a start, speaking of nothing about the visual look of those maps and missions, so I just don't play it. But that straight up wasn't an option for the past couple of weeks because everytime I went to answer an SOS call on a bug planet it would just be someone yelling about how we're not helping Super Earth. I tried to get on a few days ago and full on SCREECHING was occuring because the MO was super close and "Bug Divers refused to help what mattered". Then something happened, I have no idea what, but evidently Bug Divers could have had an impact on the Super Earth stuff. I wasn't paying any attention and the behavior half switched. It went from complete screeching to half screeching and half "Well AH finally gave you guys a reason to be helpful." So I switched to a whole ass different planet that had absolutely nothing to do with the war.
I did not fucking care about this Super Earth invasion at all. I didn't find it fun in the slightest and a good major portion of that was because every single Diver that I had the misfortune of dealing with who wasn't calling themselves a BugDiver was going out of their way to be as toxic as humanly possible, all emboldened by AH saying "Fine. You don't want to play the Galactic War? We'll FORCE you to through social pressure from the community." It got me to stop playing the game entirely. I might reconsider now that this shit is over.
My greatest disappointment is that Prosperity City didn't burn to the fucking ground and that any voters on that planet survived.
I recommend finding a community/group in your timezone to play with. Yes, it's a very hard task to do, but the reward is worth it. Users that you make a connection with have more accountability than randoms in a pick up group. It only takes one event to ruin your day.
Regarding the bugs, you should re-evaluate your stance. At this point in time, AH has a good chance to introduce a bug in their patches. It's like how the Vermintide community know Fatshark will never release a polished game on release day. Leave a bad review if bugs are ruining your fun.
Oh I've been trying to find a group to play with, absolutely.
Helldivers just seems to be buggy anyway from the get-go. That's why they didn't bug me as much as they probably should have. They were definitely worse than I've seen elsewhere but considering I was getting batted at mach jesus by a glitching call-in jeep (I cannot remember the name of those things for the fucking life of me. They're jeeps), or a rotating van on the Illuminate maps, I just got used to it.
