Appliance Repair

This is where we discuss how to repair appliances, large and small. We are not waiting for #right2repair law to be enacted. The civil disobedient practice of repairing instead of wasting and re-buying is welcome here. I will also turn a blind eye toward “piracy” of manufacturer service manuals that are otherwise unavailable to the general public.

Our kid broke the dispenser thingy, apparently the axel that actuates the mechanism. The piece is apparently not available anymore and the service repair from Siemens didn’t even help me asssess custom repairability.

So, could anyone help me opening this baby? The model is KAD90L.

There’s one screw underneath the cover but nothing seems to move after unscrewing it.

Any help appreciated :)

Oh neaaaaaaat thanks :) Now I need to figure out the name of the damn piece little one broke and where to get it from.

I'd call that the Dispenser Lever but I doubt you'll find one. You may find a whole dispenser, but I would be prepared to epoxy the old one back together.

JB Weld is your friend.

Or glue it back together, make a mold of it, cast new in polyester resin.

Or 3D print a new one.

I just realised that there’s a link to an STL for 3D printing in the link… That numbered lemming is the goat :) I just need to figure out how to get it printed with enough quality.
