They have so much different missions that I would not be able to put any overlap between the 2 functions beside who eventually pays for them… What kind of shitty experience has led to such a take? Care to share some?

I grew up with my father being an officer in firefighting in Europe (not France though) and my perception is way different. Among other things he escaped death quite a couple of times just to extract some poor souls from certain death situations, helped the community avoid disasters and generally be super kind about risk prevention visits…

He was a totally absent father though but I chalk that to his commitment to the local community.

Yo at some point that very idea seems more efforts than planting actual trees… few months ago a French YouTuber (Tev) went deeeeeeeep into one of those Chinese desert and filmed greenery in the middle of it. Like a whole garden thingy built just for the lols or something.

Dude… kids are fucking cows to milk… in Europe we have special protections for them bundled in GDPR because they are sooooooo good targets with soooooo much potential. To give you some food for thought ; Microsoft is pushing their products as soon as schools so that kids are hooked. And they are far from being the worse….

I don’t know how it works for Google but the moment they invoiced you once they might be able to or more precisely they might have to nevertheless keep yr data for years for tax reasons… And then some because they might have to comply with obscure data retention laws or such. But as of the moment this deletion happens you might not be able to access it anymore indeed.

We had calculators but they have llms and what looks like a failing school system that -at least where I’m from- has been removing a whole lot of traditional calculus / grammar and generally « old style » programs with more participative approaches.

Together with less formal scoring, automatic passing year by year for while, not more Latin or higher math or science to make room for more societal or practical classes.

Back when I didn’t need - didn’t had one I called family to drive us. And then for a few days I took the bus as usual. But that was some 20yrs ago ;-) Now I would take an Uber-like service.

For childbirth though we’re definitely driving to hospital here in Europe unless something went very very bad. Plenty of time between the start of the party and the conclusion of it. It would be poor taste to use ambulance for something actually not urgent.

Erh well, it takes hours with proper tooling with which I have first hand experience… and just as much experience with various police forces… admittedly my knowledge is limited to Europe and LA on that topic.

For reference I saw them deploy very serious means for stuff from csam to piracy so be careful on how you perceive their willing to be major annoyances.

Nha my dude you’re lying to yourself if you think that it is nearly enough to survive the level of forensics that will happen in case of a motivated investigation. You need the whole multipass erasure and overwriting or you’re toast. It takes hours…
