At the equivalent of USD$23,000 it's at the higher end of the Chinese price range for SUVs, which ranges from about the equivalent of USD$15,000 to 27,000

That's in China, I live in the EU. If those were the prices over here, I don't know who would still buy ICEs. OTOH electrical grid would explode 🤪

According to this article, a BYD Dolphin Surf sells for €23,000, or about USD$26,000.

Which includes (a justified IMO) 45% EU tariff on Chinese cars, due to massive manufacturing subsidies.

Right, forgot about that. The price is awesome, the size and range not so but then again, as a second car can be great and I hope a sign of affordable cars to come. It also features a LFP battery which is good. But beyond affordability there is another feature I'd like to see and it affects all cars - an option to disable all car communication to outside world.
