After reading the piece and seeing no explanation for why Farrell would be so angry, I found this quote from his wife about what happened:
It was so loud but he could still hear the fan complaining.
So he started a fight with his band member.
Don't abuse drugs kids.
Back in the day, one of the things JA was famous for was being ear-bleedingly loud in concert, so there's a certain to hear him complain about the volume.
TBH, I'm surprised to hear these guys still around and touring.
The last few years have been great for nostalgia tours.
This should be up to the sound man anyway. I'd assume this gig was big enough where stage volume meant almost nothing compared to that of the PA, in ear monitors, or stage monitors.
