It's a cool idea. The Apple ios cameras are such high quality that it'll take a pretty high end camera to be better. It's still nice to have options.
I work on TV and film sets and there is a use case, for example, giving the sound mixer or the dimmer board op a live feed on an iPad built into their carts.
Software support with this stuff is lacking however.
