In the transcript of an OPA interview, Officer Derek Norton, acting as a representative for the Seattle Police Officers Guild, told investigators they were concerned that officers were under investigation simply for having unpopular political views in a Democratic city.

No... they were under investigation for participating in or being complicit in illegal activity. Namely criminal trespassing, assaulting police officers, and attempted insurrection. Their political views and beliefs aren't relevant. The actions they took in support of those things are.
