We are temporarily disabling the ability to transform Quartz into Charged Quartz Crystals while we address an issue.

We'll update once we have addressed the issue and re-enabled this content.

Does anybody know, why?

I just went to reddit to check. Apparently, the daily cap was not working on a specific hero point (searing cauldron).

If true, that's a very obvious exploit. I hope they temp-ban the offenders and remove the ill-gotten gains from their accounts.

Isn't the Searing Cauldron Hero Point exactly the one that was bugged for weeks, i. e. didn't work at all? Which would mean their fix was bugged and introduced a possible exploit?

@necropola @bob_lemon @guildwars2 Yep. The bug that needed fixing was that the hero point would be permanently unclaimable if you had used it to charge a skyscale egg first.

I genuinely wouldn't know what to do with a thousand charged quartz. I can craft a bit and sell it, but the market will just crash immediately and me and the 100 other blokes will have made like what, a hundred gold or something per guy. Then what?

You can trade them for Provisioner Tokens at Rend Scorchmaul in the Wizard's Tower who does not have a daily limit. This would have been an unlimited supply of tokens for roughly 20 silver a pop (see below) and people already know that they will need 300 tokens per piece of legendary armor.

But the Price for Quartz Crystals does not appear to have exploded, since ArenaNet was quick enough to fix it. Or maybe it's true and the exploit did not even consume the stacks and you could get unlimited amounts of Charged Crystals == Provisioner Tokens for free while it lasted.

I can craft a bit and sell it

Probably not, since ArenaNet crashed the market for (crafted) exotic gear with the addition of a new WvW vendor who sells stat selectable exotics for very little coin and honor. If I were mean, I could say they did this to make people buy PoF and HoT so they can also pick stat combinations from these expansions. Anyway, crafting is now officially dead.

Ahhh, skip Provisioner Tokens. Well I can understand that motivation.

I hope they don't re-break the Searing Cauldron Hero Challenge when they fix this. I need that for World Completion.

If necessary, you could use Proofs of Heroics from WvW. Just get all the other hero points first, then start consuming until you get the cauldron (might take a bit, since there's some obscure HPs that are not part of world completion)
