I subscribed to Amazon Music for a few months so I could merge all my mp3s into one place and listen on my phone.
One day I woke up, went for a walk and hit play and Amazon was like, "We deleted all the mp3s off of your phone because we want to re-encode them. You're welcome." (This also wiped my playlists.)
I went straight back to managing my own mp3 library and have never looked back.
