Ontario's new deal with Toronto involves the provincial government taking control of the Gardiner Expressway and Don Valley Parkway, a move estimated to save Toronto $7.8 billion in road maintenance costs. Despite Ontario Premier Doug Ford expressing reluctance, the responsibility transfer means the province will manage and fund repairs, closures, and maintenance decisions for the two roads. The deal also includes a commitment not to toll the expressways, with funds saved redirected to address Toronto's priorities, such as pothole repairs, TTC improvements, and affordable housing projects. The agreement is set to be solidified through imminent legislation.

Doug specifically said it wouldn't be, but I struggle with his Jedi mind tricks. Does it mean he will?

@7rokhym @nimnim Doug is the most car friendly premier we’ve had. He will not put tolls on these roads.
