I used to live in and almost bought a house (still wish i did) in the strange little town where this occurred. Crestone is the perfect place for a bizarre cult... a few decades ago, a wealthy businessman or his widow or something decided to turn the place into a spiritual center, and gave out grants of 100 acres to any religious organization who wanted to move to the area. As a result, in this town of about 2000 people around an hour from any larger town (Alamosa, Salida, both barely large enough for a hospital or walmart) has dozens of religious organizations ranging from Zen and Tibetan Buddhist to Hindu to Shumei, Christians, and a bunch of one-off "New Age" type groups, including this one, Love Has Won. It makes the town very... unique.

Is that why the crocodile place is in that area?
