Kate is freaking awesome. So many nice features for coding short of using a full IDE.
Is it as fast ro start up as N++?
Yes
It is in KDE, in my experience.
What are the advantages over notepad++?
Native to Linux I'd say. Probably a few more but I'm more of a mousepad guy myself.
