I can tell you I have never thought about this once in my life. It probably only becomes conspicuous when you are overthinking and overanalyzing the situation. Try to focus on not caring and it will come more naturally.
Trying not to focus on something is hard, so if you are getting lost in your head in that moment, something you can do is a grounding exercise or a breathing exercise.

Focusing on something else instead like your surroundings or your breathing will help you stop focusing on where your eyes are pointed.
If I could breathe and relax I wouldn't need the cocktail :-P
You don't need a cocktail in any situation my friend. If I could ask, what is running through your mind in those moments?
I think you're taking this rather too seriously ๐ I am indeed unsure of where to look, but I'm only having a bit of fun with that thought.
