I agree. We should deny them entry.

The problem is we make it hard for people to come here but then encourage illegal immigration.

Congress needs to step up and create better policies for allowing immigrants into the country. The current system is just a failure.

The Cato Institute has an interesting game called the Green Card Game, that really shows all the hoops the current system imposes on immigrants. Like, if you smoked marijuana within the last 12 months, why do they need to wait 12 more months in limbo for a test? At most, it can be tested in your hair up to 90 days after ingestion.

Also, it's funny that they just straight up deny Communists.

Or who cares if they smoked weed? While it’s illegal. Most states allow it now.

They should ban communist. Communism is worse than Nazis.

We need to focus on what role they’ll fill, criminal record, etc. most immigrants from south of the border are taking low paying jobs that many Americans don’t want to do.

Lol, I remember once in a community college sociology class, I think it was the teacher arguing against immigration. And I literally asked her, "So, do you want to go pick strawberries?"

It's really funny how some folks don't understand the role immigrants play in American society. I definitely appreciate when someone can actually identify how they're useful as a conservative. It's mostly value-extracting libertarians that see immigration is a good thing.

...and then this

Communism is worse than Nazis.

It's always interesting to me how I can agree and disagree with people in the same conversation.

For the right price, I'm sure. And while they obviously aren't going to be appealing to a community college sociology professor at any reasonable price, there's a lot of people in the US facing pretty significant poverty due to various economic changes. I wouldn't be surprised if those people were perfectly willing to work seasonal jobs if given decent pay and travel to/from the job when the season starts/ends.

Or we can just keep driving wages straight into the ground by taking advantage of migrant labor willing to work for pennies on the dollar 🤷

Most conservatives are pro-immigrant. At least the ones I know are, we just want people to come through legal methods. Now, where I differ from some of the mainstream conservatives is I want the government to actually create a path for immigrants. A real path. Back when I worked in law enforcement, I dealt with many illegal immigrants. I worked mainly in a section of town filled with illegal immigrants. Many of them want to come to earn money and then go back to Mexico. They had no desire to stay in America forever. We should have a path for people like that. A five-year Visa where they can never get citizenship but can stay for five years or something similar.
We should have a path for people who want to come pick the strawberries or lettuce or whatever it is. It is nothing new, we have done this since at least World War 2.
