This is so dumb. Why would you lean on your boss' advice?! They're going to tell you how they got where they are and advise skills relative to the job you are already in.

That advice isn't worthless, but neither is it likely to advance your career.

GenZ always seems to be screaming, "Pay me more!" LOL, no. You get paid more by improving your skills and education, then jumping to another job.
