Happens with new, hot and active, which are the most useful sorting orders for daily use. Highly bothersome. Luckily Jerboa doesn't have that issue

Jerboa is the Android app.

That would be why I have no idea what anyone is talking about. Good to know, jerboa ftw

Several post have been made on this bug, it seems common. I even have a video here: https://feddit.de/post/739125

Is that the same thing you're experiencing?

[-] bokudoku@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

yea that seems to be

This is so annoying it happens all the time. Worst Lemmy bug

I noticed this as well and thought it was meant to be a feature at first. Real time updates and just going with it. Glad to see it's apparently a known bug!

I found that I only encountered it when viewing 'All > Hot' or 'All > New', I believe. I thought it was someone spamming the server with the same thing to different subs, but I see now that it's a bug.

So for now I stick with 'Subscribed > Hot' or 'Subscribed > New', and I subscribed to a crapload of subs.

Also, the posts that are spawned on top surely shouldn't be there, for example I get year old posts spawned on top of my hot page.

I believe this is a known bug called the "scrolling bug" and it's been captured in a screen recording and hopefully officially submitted (saw it in a Lemmy post earlier). I don't know that the cause has been determined, however.

I noticed this too. Would also like to know what's up with that.

I would also appreciate it if things would generally just stay still and stop updating while I'm trying to look at them, especially the posts timeline.

Hopefully this will come with the work that I know is going on right now to use HTTP instead of websockets in lemmy-ui. https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ui/pull/1081

Yeah one time it was like 1 yr old posts all by the same person, too.
