I had a coworker (woman in her 60s) who was suspended from high school for wearing pants. That would have been ~early 1970s, so math checks out

They certainly did have pant-like split skirts for cycling in the late 19th century and regular pants for sports in the 1920s but it became more casual for women later on, not sure about before those time periods tho
