My lithops have been in various stages of splitting for the past few months. They have decided to show the process all in one pot! The potting medium is perlite.

What kind of rocks did you top the pot with? I always have a hard time finding small rocks for topping. Also I like you're lil' bitty Lithops, but that bottom right one do be lookin a bit crusty 🤣

The bottom right one has been very fickle and is taking its sweet time. I don't want to water it, but it does look crusty indeed. I suppose each plant takes its splitting journey at its own pace. The topper that you see is large perlite. I use natural aquarium gravel for my other succulents.

Nice! I just adopted some of these from my local garden center. Any advice for a newbie? I know they have a rather particular watering schedule.

I'm fairly new to them myself. Water when wrinkly (about once every few months)- lithops will rot away quickly if overwatered. When splitting, like 3 of mine are, do not water at all. In terms of substrate, it must have very little organic matter. Mine are in entirely perlite with exception to some small amount of soil near the roots. In terms of light, they need 12-14 hours of full sun, or full-spectrum light if using grow lights (like I do). Lastly, be patient. They grow slowly and go at their own pace.
