The actor, who just celebrated his 93rd birthday on March 22, shared his excitement about experiencing the once-in-a-lifetime event. When asked about what to expect from him during the celebration, he said “darkness” with laughter.

“The next one over Indiana will be like a hundred years from now," he said. "We’ll all be dead. I might not be, but you guys are going to be dead the next time. It’s an event, but when you ponder the mystery - if you ponder what’s taking place in the heavens - it’s gargantuan.”

William Shatner, known for his iconic role as Captain William T. Kirk in the classic television series "Star Trek," is headed to Bloomington to take part in Indiana University’s “Hoosier Cosmic Celebration.”

Looks like he'll be checking out college town, lucky them.

You know what I think is hilarious? Janelle Monáe and Mae Jemison will also be there. I feel bad about this for Jemison who deserves top billing because she's a fucking astronaut, but the ads I've seen give Janelle Monáe top billing with her name in huge text and a big photo. Shatner and Jemison's names are under her in much smaller text and their photos are much smaller and next to her big one. Like I said, I feel bad for Jemison, but it's somewhat made up by imagining the fit Shatner almost certainly threw when he found out he didn't get top billing.

The society of Idiocracy doesn't know who Jemison is without an explanation.

Lol at me, I needed context, and I have to Google Monae.

Shatner is just name recognition. I really don't care about actors and singer much. I at least respect science.

I also had to Google her. I had no idea who she was. I knew about Mae Jemison. I even remember her going up on the Space Shuttle because it was the 90s and she was still the first black woman in space, which was outrageous, especially because of who got us into space, but at least it finally happened... and of course I know who Shatner is. And I love that he got third billing. I just wish Jemison got top billing.
