Yeah I'm calling BS on that study immediately. Either bad faith or the researchers genuinely have no idea how algorithms work.

It's hard to read the full article with it being behind a paywall.

That said, Google disagrees with the findings.

Effectively, if you've engaged with unreliable news in the past, Google will continue to serve that same type of news going forward. It's a self fulfilling echo chamber. Meta, Twitter, and other media sites have similar algorithms.
