I need to thin some fragrance oil and don't know how (beehaw.org)

I didn't know where to post this question, exactly. I bought the wrong brand oils for my air wick aerosol unit; they are much more viscous than what they would normally use. I tried just transferring the oil to the air wick brand cartridges and it works fine for a little while, until the thick oil clogs the aerator. Or whatever it's called.

This being said, the method used to thin it needs to be as safe/unsafe as the oil itself. Like I don't want to put paint thinner in it lol.

I don't know that thinning it out will make it work with the different cartridges, that might not be the only problem. That said, to dilute it, you need to add a carrier oil.

An oil that is liquid at room temperature such as jojuba or avocado is probably your best bet.

edited to add: According to the ingredients list for Air Wick cartridges, they also contain ethanol, which might also dilute it and make it more watery as opposed to oily.

Cool, thanks for your input. You're right, it may not work, but I'll give it a shot. Otherwise I'll just get rid of them. The original cartridges are definitely a lot more watery; when shaken, the bubbles rise to the surface quickly. In the others, the bubbles stay suspended for a moment and rise slowly.

When I say cartridges, they're those little brown glass jars with the wick coming out the top. They plug into the aeration device and it heats? And sprays it out the top in a mist
