500+ comment thread on whether late marriage and young adult promiscuity causes de-emphasis on movie fanservice. Ongoing record lows of sexual activity among young adults do not seem to factor into the analysis.

there’s so much wrong. the one thing my brain decided to focus on is the thread where someone insists there’s an objective, immutable, static standard of beauty and when pressed on what it is, said “we all know it when we see it”. the replies that disagreed with the idea of objective beauty were heavily downvoted, of course

I mean, they're talking about this as if it's intrinsically a bad thing. It's not quite there yet, but a healthier relationship with romance in Hollywood would be a great step forward.

Eventually, I hope people'll get bored of the Hollywood beauty standards and y'know, follow actors for their acting ability rather than their bodies.
