Ideally not a torrent cause my character is a noob

Learn to use torrent. Then download anime/manga/H in Nyaa.

i know its been 9 months, still, the "noobiest" way to download anime would be visiting a illegal streaming site (like 9anime) and clicking the "download" button in the video player for every episode.

I prefer torrenting but you could also download from IRC. Check out nibl

Rule of thumb? You can't. There is always a risk of malware. Best is to up your computer security with a good set of antivirus, antimalware and a VPN.
