This includes anime that has been announced, as well as manga series that have yet to have an announcement, but definitely will have one sooner or later. Personally, the top three right now are Apothecary Diaries (predicted to release around Oct 2023. highly, highly recommend), Sakamoto Days and Dandadan

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End and Delicious in Dungeon for me. Both manga are outstanding fantasy that aren't isekai and I think will translate really well to being animated.

[-] sealneaward@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

Delicious in Dungeon is next on the list to read after I finish Dandadan. I hope Trigger gets to animate Delicious in Dungeon. That would be great.

That's so nice to hear.

I didn't know it was announced recently. I thought it was because of that promo they did a while back that it was hinted that it was possible by the manga community.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End

It does seem different than the average isekai so I may give it a shot.

Delicious in Dungeon

I am looking forward to that it too :)

[-] lvxferre@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Both associated manga series are amazing. If well animated they'll be sure hits.

[-] Myska@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

I believe so too. I also hope the anime adaptations follow the manga.

[-] lvxferre@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 year ago

In no specific order:

  • Tate no Yuusha season 3
  • Mushoku Tensei II
  • Spy x Family season 2
  • OPM 3
  • Youjo Senki II
  • Tsuki ga season 2

The fact that five of them are isekai series and only one is shōnen is a coincidence, I warrant you. I'm totally not hooked in isekai. Not at al...

...holy fuck new season of Saihate no Paradin! Make it 6/7 instead of 5/6!

[-] JustChillin@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

has the studio for OPM 3 been announced yet? I hope we don't see a retreading of season 2, but it'll be tough under any circumstances to live up to the insane level of the animation work in the first season.

[-] lvxferre@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

It'll be animated by MAPPA, the same studio as the one behind Chainsaw Man.

[-] Killer@beehaw.org 1 points 1 year ago

J.C. Staff did the 2nd season.

[-] lvxferre@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

J.C. Staff. The same studio currently animating the Megumin spin-off of KonoSuba, and that animated Shinigami Bocchan.

@irrationalpanda@reddthat.com I am looking forward to Apothecary Diaries as well!

I am also looking forward to the following:

Mononogatari S2

Okashi na Tensei

Jujutsu Kaisen S2

Dark Gathering

Undead Girl Murder Farce

Migi to Dali

Spy x Family S2

Spy x Family Movie: Code: White>

I need another season of Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid so bad.

[-] ncrranger@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

Kobayashi has a pretty good story and the whole atmosphere is really nice, but that character design is not really that good honestly.

[-] Myska@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Ditto. It's really fun to watch!

[-] psudo@beehaw.org 1 points 1 year ago

I really loved the first season, but never got around to watching the second season. I feel like the manga was loosing steam too, but maybe that was just me losing interest. I hope you get it, though.

[-] Intrepid_Corvid@lemmy.fmhy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

I only recently found it and started watching it on a whim. The second season is really good!

[-] luckystarr@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 year ago

No game no life, season 2. To be released: apparently never

[-] Neshura@feddit.de 2 points 1 year ago

Took up reading the novels after waiting 500 years. Still want that Season 2 though

[-] Kissaki@feddit.de 4 points 1 year ago

The next season of Mushoku Tensei / Jobless Reincarnation.

I've watched the series three times. The world-building and storytelling are exceptional.

This year I haven't felt the interest / captivating anymore, but I'm hoping the interest will return once the third season finishes airing, or when I start rewatching it for it.

On rewatches I'm skipping the longer flashback scene. I find it very unfitting.

[-] lvxferre@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

It's weird how much of a hit-or-miss MT is. I love it too; people call it "the grandfather of isekai" (that's only partially true), but it's from a more civilised time, when protags didn't have a [INSERT YOURSELF HERE] sign on their necks.

Fair but spoilerless warning, if you don't follow the manga, LN or WN: it'll likely start with an event that a lot of people feel rather meh with. But it's mostly a plot device.

[-] Matth78@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago

Rurouni Kenshin. Loved the first anime adaptation. Hope this new one will be better with great fighting scenes and badassery!

[-] ncrranger@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago

Waiting for the new season of Mushoku Tensei. After watching the first season I decided to read the novels which was an amazing experience. The story shifts its focus, but it is still as interesting as it was in the beggining.

[-] GrimaH@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Bartender.

No idea whether it'll be a remake or sequel, but either way I'm hyped. The 2006 anime is excellent.

[-] gagamaru@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

yooo that looks pretty sick, premise feels a little like death parade

[-] Lasher@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Overtake

Haven't had a proper racing anime in... forever.

[-] sealneaward@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I cant wait for Dandadan. Really curious who would want to pick it up. Some of the fight scenes would be pretty tough to animate.

I wonder if Ufotable has any new shounens on their plate after Demon Slayer. They should pick it up. MAPPA already has too much tbh.

[-] twentyfloz@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago

Absolutely agree with this. I just started reading it out of boredom and it sounded ok based on the synopsis I read... well it was nothing like what I pictured and I was hooked immediately. Been binging ever since.

[-] laconicsoftware@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

SAKAMOTO DAYS IS GETTING AN ANIME?!?! I've been loving the manga!

[-] Anthulhu@beehaw.org 2 points 1 year ago

I'm really looking forward to Solo Leveling finally being adapted mainly. Even more so I am looking for the new season of Spice and Wolf to finally come out after waiting an eternity!

[-] Raitontime@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Some people already mentioned it but Solo Leveling. Also S3 for Re:Zero, it took a while to get announced and I was worried it wasn't going to happen.

[-] Icarus@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

+1 for solo leveling, I read the manhwa and it was great

[-] rexxiteer@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Definitely The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses

I've read the manga and it's really sweet.

[-] Yadaran@feddit.de 1 points 1 year ago

For me it's Bleach Thousand Year Blood War cour 2, Jujutsu Season 2 and Horimiya Season 2, all releasing in Summer season.

[-] datwillpowerdo@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

I'm excited for The 100 Girlfriends who really really really really really love you adaptation. I've been following the manga for ~1.5 years and it'll be a hoot if done justice.

[-] LetsGOikz@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

I had to check the upcoming list for next season since I haven't been following news of the upcoming season much, and I didn't realize Small Senpai is getting adapted and also didn't realize Ryza's anime was coming so soon after being announced. So I guess I'd say those two are the ones I'm looking forward too the most for now lol.

[-] MiddleWeigh@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I know the 2nd season just ended, but I can't wait for s3 of to your eternity. I felt like I was watching Shakespeare's retelling of the life of Jesus reincarnated as an anime lol. I was kinda tripping for a decent portion of s2 and it was really good 😅

[-] terribleplan@lemmy.nrd.li 1 points 1 year ago

Next season looks pretty great, at least better than the current one IMO. I am most looking forward to the vending machine isekai.

[-] rexxiteer@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I've honestly been thinking this season is way too stacked to the point I'm constantly behind (Demon, Slayer, Oshi no Ko, Dr. Stone, Tengoku Daimakyo, Tonikaku Kawaii, Insomniacs after School, Dead Mount Death Play just to name a few I find noteworthy).

[-] terribleplan@lemmy.nrd.li 1 points 1 year ago

Oshi no Ko just isn't my cup of tea, though I did love Kaguya-sama, they are just very different things. I am not up to date on Dr. Stone, ToniKawa, Smartphone or Kuma, so those are just going in the "later" pile for now until I can catch up on them. I am watching and really liking Insomniacs. Konosuba Explosion has been about what I expected (fine, but just not as good as the main story). Also Yuri Job has been alright. It just feels like last few seasons had at least one thing every day that was interesting to me, less so right now.

Overall I am basically watching 3 shows this season (of maybe 5 or 6 I am interested in including S2s and such) vs 16 in Winter 2023, 12 in Fall 2022, 16 in Summer 2022... It just seems that this season overall has less that interests me. I am all about SoL and RomComs... and I have been pretty spoiled for the past couple years, haha.

[-] luckystarr@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

I've read the novel. This one could be pretty fun if they don't ruin it.
