I was a venting a little, I think I'm on of the shills you say, and the reason is at least I can ignore these Chinese apps and go on, but alphabet, in other side is all the time trying to mold the internet to show you more ads, things like the monopoly of chromium and the web environment integrity. I can live without tik tok but not without browsers and internet these days
I made some 20 years ago many choices about what tech I would never use. the only thing I know, it's that I'm still very largely right about those choices, though I'm aware that's a lost war
That's not actually how it works. Google doesn't sell or give away data, they just use it for targeted ads, which means it's in their best interest to be the only ones with your data.

Or just buying your data from US based companies, almost every app (even ones that say they don't) collect so much unrelated data for the parent company to sell. Why does McDonalds need to passively collect my network carrier, screen resolution, birthday, or gps coordinates?
Get the duckduckgo app, enable the tracking protection, and cringe at the hundreds of thousands of tracking attempts that your apps are giving. I had 200,000 tracking attempts blocked in the past 7 days alone (not including time I had the tracking protection off)

I heard it was actually a dude from Singapore that started it. I'll never use it, so I'm not too sure if they have any obligations to china aside from what is used in a china, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are plenty of American companies hanging out with tencent, like blizzard.
I don't download it because I have an addictive personality. But it kinda feels like our digital privacy has been thrown out the window no matter what you do
