My European brain cannot comprehend it

Can't comprehend twenty lanes of FREEDOM ๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿฆ…

It's got buildings less than 10 m away from interchangers. Imagine coming out your front door and right there is an interchange. I know it happens in the US but I can't believe that it's desirable.

Although having said that my house is on a road that predates the invention of the car, And is so narrow that even some vans struggle to get up, but at least it's quiet.

Your citizen must absolutely love the background noise haha

Just...one...more...lane....

The pride and joy of this city is an 18 lane highway running through the middle of downtown

[-] grillgamesh0028@lemmy.world 6 points 4 months ago

too much water, downvoted for nonrealism to Texas.

[-] Latuga17@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

It's mostly the width of the freeways that are the inspiration

It looks like a Dubai style city

Also please CO, just add bike lanes into the game and I'm gonna re-buy C:S 2 then.

I mean car dominated cities aren't unique to one country but Dubai surely strives to be the worst

[-] PrivateNoob@sopuli.xyz 3 points 4 months ago

True, just the map makes it feel like this city is in the desert.

[-] Latuga17@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

Yes it definitely does

If this is meant to be inspired by Texas, it is emphatic no. Consider Houston. You are missing 610, beltway 8, 6, the grand parkway, I 10, 45, 59, westheimer parkway, westheimer road, westheimer, the buffalo speedway, and a partridge in a pear tree.

As a former Houston resident, this is exactly what I was thinking, heh.

I know! It's hard to put that many highways and at the same time imitate the crazy sprawl of Houston all in one map

[-] slazer2au@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

You need a bypass for cars entering from the right side of the map to get to the bottom of the map without going through the city. You even have an unused junction you can hook into.

Yes that's the plan along with many more widenings and interchanges!

[-] MoonMelon@lemmy.ml 3 points 4 months ago

You've invented Cincinnati.

[-] SuperSpruce@lemmy.zip 2 points 4 months ago

What glorious spaghetti.

How many lanes are each highway? (Where I'm from, they have 2-3 lanes in each direction, and all the traffic occurs when it's 2 lanes only!!! Better do at least 4 just in case! /s)

[-] Latuga17@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

The largest freeway currently has 10 lanes per direction at its widest point

[-] SuperSpruce@lemmy.zip 2 points 4 months ago

Glorious.

I've built some cities with many highways, but I don't think I've ever gone over 4 lanes in each direction on any individual highway.

[-] Latuga17@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Don't worry this city has all the highways! The huge one is an express/collector system inspired by the 401 in Toronto

[-] SuperSpruce@lemmy.zip 1 points 4 months ago

I have a highway in one of my cities with a local and express lane system, but each system has just 2 lanes in each direction for a total of 4 lanes in each direction.

[-] Latuga17@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

In America we have 20 lanes of freedom!!! ๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿฆ… I'm currently adding some Texas style feeder roads

[-] SuperSpruce@lemmy.zip 1 points 4 months ago

You're inspiring me to make an even wider highway in a new city of mine
