There are already plenty of communities here. New communities can be created on other instances.

Quick question. Can I, with my lemmy.ml account, create a community on another instance. If yes: how?

Not directly, but you can ask a user there to create a community and add you as mod. Or do this with your second account.

@nutomic@lemmy.ml What about the ability to subscribe to something kinda like following a hashtag on mastodon. So instead of subscribing to every say c/programing community that pops up, as you don't know which one will pop off, instead your feed will automatically get posts from all federated instances that have a c/programing community.
