These watches need the help of a professional watchmaker. The gears are often not polished and cause issues. The escarpment crystals need proper oiling. There are also not enough crystals to limit the friction. Overall a good cleaning and oiling will go a long way to consistent results but without serious reworking they will never been great time keeping pieces.

I was able to adjust my Vostok similarly, but in the end the real timekeeping on wrist was waaaay off. Plus it was quite unstable, ie. one day it would run +7s, another +17, etc. Pain in the butt to adjust.
