There being no classification above S class means there will be a big power disparity between people of S class.

I thought this would be fixed by the big machine they're going to use for the real test. Like, maybe it doesn't matter to the general population how much more powerful someone is above "base" S-class, but people who are S-class know approximately how powerful they are compared to each other?

It seemed to me that all the S-classes had the ability to sense magical power.

I think that was already slightly shown by how people view the S classes. The two when the red gate happened seemed to be "close" but the series seems to somewhat look down on cha hae-in who is an s class.
