I took 25 days offline from lemmy to think about what to do and it was probably the right decision lol. I posted outside this server and immediately got a lib comment.

I've had some time to think about the "culture" of lemmy and I think I figured out something I didn't understand about the libs. Tankie means "willing to act" and not anything really to do with the Soviet Union or how the word tankie has been used for my entire life. Tankie used to mean willing to use the army to suppress any descent with the goal of achieving leftism and communist government (which btw was just revealed the Hungarian protest was in fact a US operation in the recent Trump admin declassification) now it means anyone willing to act extra-democratically. To be honest, in light of the recent declassification it makes it all the more likely that the term tankie itself was created by liberal infiltrators.

This is an extreme liberal understanding of politics and political action that totally cedes all action and grants a monopoly of violence to the state and renders everyone else as a non participatory actor subject to the whim of governments. They believe they get to participate in elections and voting which is why they are so vicious in enforcing having to vote and the importance of voting despite all evidence that the elections are being manipulated worldwide and that majority rule is actually fundamentally unjust.

Anarchists aren't peaceniks either and I'm really not sure how the dynamic on Lemmy specifically became "Tankies bad violent actors and all violence is wrong" and "Anarchists are non violent leftists with no defined beliefs" for fucks sake Anarchists firebomb police. Stonewall was a riot. I'm willing to put my life on the line for my comrades, that doesn't mean I'm subject to Russian propaganda or love Putin and that is why that bullshit made me so mad. The most vocal people on this platform have already given up the fight and ceded all power to state structures that WILL kill them.

i haven't been on the Lemmy much lately, not for any real reason just, you know, other stuff.

1. so as for something good: i am hosting two groups at my house, one is a zen group that has practiced here for almost three years and today marks the first day that it has happened without me being involved and i love that - i am, unfortunately, sick, but the fact that the group can function without me means that it's likely going to survive and i like that.

the other group is a vegan dinner club slash political theory study group (in the vein of Murray Bookchin). i'm middle aged and not connected with very many young people in the world, so this group brings together college-aged people, other middle aged people like myself, and some of our friends and family together. i'm the only vegan in the group but since i host, i get to request we make and eat only vegan food and everybody's been doing great. i feel like this is my little bit of activism; get some leftists thinking about how damn good vegan food can be and maybe it will jump into their minds that, hey! veganism and leftism are interrelated!
