I have a specific order to obtaining my favorite vgm:

1 - Buy / Download from the artist legit if available, whether from bandcamp or as dlc for some games

2 - Check to see if sittingonclouds.net or sephi.zophar.net have it

3 - Check if it's on spotify & use spotiflyer if so

4 - Last resort if it's only on youtube or soundcloud... yt-dlp

Now that I wrote this I probably should have asked if you stream or download music but whatever.

soulseek is often worth a check

I agree that soulseek is great when you are looking for really niche stuff (but if you can buy it on bandcamp or somewhere else, it's important to support the artists :) )

I'd never heard of soulseek before but it looks like a really neat piece of software! I'll have to check that out at some point.

sephi.zophar.net doesn't seem to work. Not sure what the link is supposed to go to.

That said, if you're willing to use music players and/or plugins that let you play native videogame music formats, you can make use of the music that the main Zophar site offers, in such formats as NSF, SPC, GBS, and others. (And for older systems, these files have way smaller filesizes than MP3s.)
