"Seven and three-quarters hours into his 25-hour speech on the Senate floor, the New Jersey Democrat Cory Booker uttered the word “Gaza”. He was not talking about the war. He stepped nowhere near the 50,000 Palestinians killed by the Israeli armed forces since 8 October 2023, or the US’s military and political support of the genocide.

Rather, Booker was searching for a particularly ludicrous lie from a presidential administration that has told thousands. “There are lies about USAID, like, I don’t know, 5 million condoms going to Gaza or something outrageous,” he said. Considering the other outrageous things Trump has said about Gaza – such as his plan to “clean out” the strip to make room for luxury resorts – the remark felt trivializing."

Did the article change headline after you posted? It says "barely" mentioned Gaza, not never. And the article brings up two instances it was talked about, one in passing more focused on Trump. Don't spread misinformation, m'kay?

Yes, it did change. But I still think that your concern is misplaced and that the Guardian's error came nowhere close to misinformation.

He also accomplished nothing and has been forgotten already. Good job, Booker. Way to help out.

Why would anyone mention Gaza when delivering a speech on a different topic?

[–] BrainInABox@lemmy.ml 7 points 2 weeks ago

He did mention his allegiance to Israel

Because #GENOCIDE @deegeese Its called Disruption of Business as Usual when the governent YOU ARE ALLEGEDLY making DECISIONS for IS ACCESORRY TO COMMITTING an international CRIMINAL ACT and 99% of the whole fucking planet KNOWS it... is HORRIFIED.

Thats "Why".

But honestly I'd never ever expect an 0ŕěœ like Booker to do anything of the sort, OR King's dead civil rights bff Lewis, or almost anyone ALLOWED to be in any seat of power in US Government. #SoldOut just to be there.
