i wouldn't want the trackball under my palm like that, I'd want it under my thumb.

I have one of these, personally I love not having to pick my hands up off the keyboard. It's like living your whole life in vim!

I love my charybdis, unfortunately I spilled a drink on one half so I have to source parts to replace it. Otherwise not having to take my hands off the keyboard for short mouse movements is really nice, and being split I can move one half over when I want to game with a mouse.

I use a Dilemma Max (another model by BK) for work and I ended up taking the trackpad off as it just didn't suit me, and added extra bulk. I went with that over a Charybdis because, aside from the extra bulk, I think it sacrifices too much as a keyboard to make space for the trackball.

As for price... Welcome to custom keyboards. You can save a chunk getting the kit, though that means sourcing your own switches. The soldering isn't much hassle though. You can actually source everything yourself if you really want to, though I'm not sure if you'd make much in the way of savings.

After having used a split keyboard for a while this seems super great for something optional. I don't think I would use the track ball all the time but when I'm just surfing the web it seems perfect.

For coding work this looks super useful. That price, though.

If it was made out of something more premium it would definitely be an easier sell. For reference I bought my split keyboard with a metal case and it was 200 USD.

They’re fascinating to me. I’ve been wanting to do a Draculad build with Pimoroni (BlackBerry style) trackball for so long The Sugar Glider is really interesting too

The sugar glider looks superb, if only it had a real trackball instead of a trackpad.

Seems like a cool concept, but I never used any

It's a split keyboard with an integrated trackball for the right thumb. You basically never have to lift your hands off it.
